Essentials for an Enjoyable Music Festival

Guest post by Bella Scott
With summer right ahead of us, a lot of people are likely looking forward to going to various music festivals they want to enjoy. While your plan may be great, it can go downhill if you are not prepared for it. First timers often get over excited or miscalculate the situation and usually end up in unfavorable circumstances. They either over pack or don’t pack sufficiently. Listed below are a few things that you should definitely take to a music festival.

1. Portable fan

A portable fan that you can hang around your neck is going to be your best friend. In many situations at a music festival, people often get crowded together, and you might not be able to get out. In such conditions, if you are uneasy with so many people around you and you can’t get fresh air, you will surely have a meltdown.

If it is a two to three-day event, you should also take a rechargeable fan that you can later on put in your tent. You can only enjoy the festival if you’re at ease.

2. Energy snacks

You should know that you won’t be getting proper food at your usual time. To make sure that you have enough energy to function it is good to have some energy snacks at hand. For example, you can carry some granola, a few breakfast bars, as well as roasted nuts. Double the fun and never compromise on your health!

3. Spare shoes

Who doesn’t want to look amazing at a music festival? Shoes are often a big part of your festival outfit. However, you should keep in mind that you will be standing most of the time and those high heels or other uncomfortable shoes aren’t a good idea.

If you want to get those perfect Instagram pictures, however, it's a good idea to keep a spare pair of shoes that you can change into after you are done with your photos.

4. Solar charger

A solar charger is an absolute necessity. Your phone needs to be charged at all times. You could end up getting lost and spend the whole festival trying to find your friends. I once ruined my entire trip because I got lost and my phone ran out of battery, and I didn’t know my friend's number so I couldn't call him on someone else's phone.

Hence, a solar charger should be the first thing that you pack in your bag. Since you are not going to have a karaoke machine lying around that allows you to make new friends nearby, the best thing is to stick with the people you came with.

5. Large cooler

Another thing that you should take if you plan on going to a music festival, is a cooler. Not only will it keep your water and food cool, but it will also make sure that you don’t have to wander around looking for a bottle of water when the time gets hot.

6. Tent and sleeping bags

Some first timers are over-optimistic about music festivals, and they think that they’ll be able to pull it off. However, you should keep in mind that you are going to exert a lot of energy on the very first day and you can only enjoy yourself if you get some rest for the next morning. Make sure that you take your own tents and sleeping bags when you plan to go to a music festival.

If you keep the above mentioned tips in mind, you are going to have a blast, and if you don’t, well, you’ll learn for next time just like I did after my own mistakes.
